Matthew 21:13
By: Rev. Dr. Harry L. White, Jr.
Senior Pastor, Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Nothing lasting or significant will happen without our engagement in the ministry of prayer. Prayer should permeate every aspect our life as a congregation. Everyone should be immersed in the ministry of prayer.
Becoming a house of prayer requires that every member:
Develop a heart for the pastor, his family and his ministry (Romans 15:30)
Grow in developing consistent Christian character (Galatians 5:22-23)
Grow in your faithfulness in the local church (Luke 16:10)
Becoming a house of prayer requires that the church:
Does things by prayer instead of praying about what it does.
Gives prayer priority instead of just fitting prayer in.
Calls for regular times of prayer and fasting to increase the faith of the church, not content to have a low faith quotient.
Does ministry beyond its means, not just within its means.
Prays when there are opportunities, not just problems.
Preaches and teaches about prayer and its importance, not assuming people understand its importance
Engages in spiritual warfare by interceding for people, churches and circumstances not allowing the Devil to steal, kill, destroy and prey on churches and people.
